Born with a penchant for storytelling and creative expression - just ask my dad…
My journey here, however, began in 2015, during the sleep-deprived years of early motherhood, when I started a little blog called The Mummysomniac. What began as a creative outlet soon grew into a passion for writing, connecting and sharing stories that resonated with others.
Over the years, my writing has been published internationally; I've participated in parenting panels, developed my own children's book, Lucinda and the Monsters, and worked as an editor on S.G. Lovell's motherhood-inspired novel, The Mummy Trap. Each experience has helped shape my creative journey and strengthened my love of storytelling in its many forms.
Photography entered the picture when I wanted better images to accompany my articles and capture everyday moments with my own children; little did I know how far this new skill set would take me. Through years of learning, experimenting and refining my style, I turned that interest into a photography business specialising in family, lifestyle, business and product photography.
Then I started studying a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at the University of Southern Queensland (which surprised no one more than me), and have expanded my knowledge of marketing and the many ways creative content can connect people, communicate ideas and bring brands to life.
I created The Kirsty McKenzie Connection as a home for all these pursuits — a place where my love of words meets my passion for imagery, and where the different parts of my creative journey come together.
Whether I'm telling a story through words, capturing a moment through my lens or creating content for a brand, my goal is the same: to create work that communicates, resonates and connects.
