Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. All of this kick started about 9 years ago when I began writing my own blog called ‘The Mummysomniac’. What began as a little side project to help fill in the long and lonely nights with newborn babies and child related sleep deprivation, rapidly developed into a deep love for self-expression and story telling through the written word. Over the years I’ve participated in parenting panels, I've seen my written work published globally (you can read those under ‘In The Press’), I've developed my own children’s book called ‘Lucinda and the Monsters’, I worked in an editing role for a motherhood based fictional novel called “The Mummy Trap” by S.G.Lovell, started my own photography business, and most recently began studying a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business, majoring in Creative and Critical Writing, and Marketing at the University of Southern Queensland.
I first picked up my camera about six years ago. I was tired of having average photos to accompany my blog pieces and articles, and of my own children, and became determined to learn the intricacies of the craft. It’s been a long slow process of trial and error, learning, creating, and really understanding and developing what my style truly is. What started as a hobby to compliment my written pieces, has now become a fully fledged occupation (and downright passion) of mine in it’s own right!
I decided to create ‘Kirsty McKenzie Connection’ as a way for me to combine my two great loves, writing and photography in one little place. A place to ‘connect’ to everything that I do…
