The internet is losing its mind over this video of a woman filling her pool…

In today’s edition of The Internet Freaks Out Over Something Shockingly Trivial, we meet Kirsty McKenzie.

This weekend the founder of The Mummysomniac was excitedly filling her family’s new pool with water in preparation for her three girls’ first big swim at home.

Like she does with a lot of her family life, Kirsty posted it on Instagram in a story.

The video depicts a mostly-empty pool with a garden hose at the bottom, filling the space with water very, very slowly.

Clearly the internet dislikes inefficiency, or maybe it dislikes people on a budget or maybe it just hates happiness.

It’s hard to tell some days ...

But on this day, Kirsty found her inbox full of messages criticising her chosen method for filling the pool.

“I never thought my pool would get them going”Kirsty is aware that some of her posts might flirt with controversy. In the whole wide world, there’s bound to be a handful of people who don’t like what you have to say.

“Sometimes I write pieces and worry that people might take it the wrong way, but I never thought my pool would get them going,” she tells Kidspot.

Followers commented that she should have had the water “trucked in” instead of waiting for a garden hose to fill it.

“Can’t believe you’re doing it that way. Obvs didn’t research this one at all,” one person wrote.

Kristy strikes back! The criticisms poured in, prompting Kirsty to make a response video.

Donning a cat ears and nose filter, Kirsty’s voice drips with sarcasm as she says, “There’s this little thing we do before we make big decisions. We research it. I mean, I know that’s totally crazy right?!

“And yes, even after our research we decided to use the garden hose.”

Because guess what people, it’s cheaper. And when you have three children or any children, or any financial aspirations in life, why would you pay to get water brought to your house IN A TRUCK when you could just leave a hose on for a few hours?

Ok maybe the truck is more convenient, but convenience comes at a premium. That’s why eight tampons at 7-11 cost about $15.

Kirsty then hit back at the folks who didn’t just criticise her pool-filling method of choice, but the size of pool as well.

“As a few of you have very kindly pointed out to me, it is a very small pool.”

If only we were all wealthy enough to swim in our Olympic-sized backyard pools and do wees on our golden toilets, so we could criticise peasants with tiny pools.

“Should I have paid someone to truck the air in too? In a later story, Kirsty posts a video of her husband blowing up an epic, colourful pool toy with the garden blower.

“Should I have paid someone to truck the air in too?” she captions the photos.

"Blowing it up with lung power would have been the cheapest. Just saying. JUST KIDDING!!"
